The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with nearly 17 percent has the highest percentage of councillors in the Delhi Municipal Corporations with criminal cases. According to a report by PTI, that refers to a study conducted by two non-political groups, the Aam Aadmi Party has the highest number of councillors with a criminal record in the newly constituted civic bodies following the MCD polls conducted last month. The study groups, Delhi Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) are reported to have analysed the self-deposited affidavits of the 266 out of the 270 winners of the polls and reached the conclusion that AAP had topped the chart.

8 out of the Aam Aadmi Party’s 48 councillors were found to be having criminal records, which translates to 16.67%. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) meanwhile has 8% of all its councillors in the same criteria. The Congress, however, has 105 of all its councillors with criminal records i.e, 10 out of its 30 elected candidates. In terms of sheer numbers, the Bharatiya Janata Party tops the chart with the highest number of its councillors having criminal records.

The Narendra Modi-led party had won 181 of the 270 wards in the three municipal corporations of Delhi.
According to the report by PTI, the Delhi Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms state that 135 of the 266 winners analysed by them are crorepatis, which is a massive 51%. The Delhi Election Watch and ADR report also reveal that 56% of the councillors of the BJP were crorepatis, while the AAP stood second with 32% on the same chart. The Congress meanwhile has half of its councillors crorepati.
