Gujarat Police Constable Ajaypal Yadav, who was allegedly absconding, has appeared before the State CID for questioning in connection with the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case. The CID had wanted to quiz him in connection with a mobile phone that he had used to talk to the then DIG (Border Range) D G Vanzara and SP Rajkumar Pandian, both of whom are in jail in connection with the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

The Investigating Officer, DSP R K Patel, said, “Yadav’s role in Prajapati case relates to his conversations with Vanzara and Pandian several times during the encounter. We wanted to question him after we came to know that the number that was found in the phone records of Vanzara and Pandian was his.” He, however, discounted allegations that Yadav had arranged for the car that took Prajapati to Ambaji, where he was shot.

CID sources said Yadav had refused to accept that he spoke to Vanzara and Pandian during the encounter, The CID source said Yadav was the link between Sohrabuddin and Tulsiram encounter cases and was suspected to have helped the IPS officers involved in these encounters.

DIG, CID, I M Desai said, “Yadav played a role in Sohrabuddin encounter. He arranged for the motorcycle that was placed near Sohrab-uddin’s body at the spot. We suspect that he worked closely with Vanzara. We have called him for questioning.”

The CID said the number Yadav used to talk to the officers belonged to his brother-in-law, Shivprasad, who is a mill worker.
