As Delhi prepares for the 2025 Assembly elections, five billionaire candidates have emerged, mostly from the BJP. With the combined assets of 699 candidates exceeding Rs 3,952 crore, these elections spark concerns regarding the role of wealth and influence in politics.
Karnail Singh, contesting from the Shakur Basti seat for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is the wealthiest candidate with assets totaling over Rs 259 crore, as reported by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the BJP's candidate from Rajouri Garden, ranks second with declared assets worth Rs 248 crore.
Congress candidate Gurcharan Singh, contesting from Krishna Nagar, has a net worth of Rs 130 crore, making him another notable billionaire in the fray.
Parvesh Sahib Singh, fielded by the BJP from the New Delhi constituency, is also among the billionaires in the upcoming elections, with assets amounting to Rs 115 crore.
AAP candidate A Dhanwati Chandela, who is contesting from Rajouri Garden, has declared a net worth of Rs 109 crore.
