Coimbatore-based Future Gaming and Hotel Services Private Limited, which is the leading player in the lottery industry of India, and also under the lens of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for alleged money laundering, was the highest donor to the electoral trusts across the country in the Financial Year (FY) 2020-21. As per an analysis done by Delhi-based Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), the lottery company has donated Rs 100 crore to Prudent Electoral Trust which has donated the highest to BJP. ADR analysed the Contribution Reports of Electoral Trusts submitted by then to the Election Commission of India for FY 2020-21. ED on April 2 attached assets worth Rs 409.92 belonging to Future Gaming & Hotel Services Private Limited and its various subdistributors.

The attached assets are in the form of balances in bank accounts and mutual fund holdings. ED has initiated a moneylaundering investigation against Future Gaming, its sub-distributors and area distributors on the basis of FIRs registered by Kolkata police. Future Gaming & Hotel Services Pvt. Ltd. is the sole distributor of paper lottery organized by the states of Sikkim and Nagaland that runs the popular ‘Dear Lottery’. ED then said the sale proceeds of lottery tickets have been illegally diverted towards gifts and incentives by modifying the prize structure of lottery schemes without any approval from the state governments.
