AAP MP Sanjay Singh, raising questions about the character of the government, said that the Opposition was neither allowed to speak outside nor are they permitted to utter inside Parliament.

During the Zero Hour session in Parliament in Rajya Sabha, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh raised the alleged 'misuse of investigative agencies against opposition leaders. Previously, in the notice for discussion, the AAP alleged that the newly-elected councillors in the preceding MCD polls were lured by inducements and 'unsuccessful' attempts were made to victimise AAP councillors.

The issue drew flak in Parliament, which followed an uproar in the Upper House. AAP MP Sanjay Singh, raising questions about the character of the government, said that the Opposition was neither allowed to speak outside nor are they permitted to utter on the issue inside Parliament.

He alleged that by misusing the Enforcement Directorate, around 3,000 raids were conducted on opposition leaders in the past eight years. He said that the ED, on the other hand, was successful in convicting merely 23 people, i.e. 0.5% of the raids and searches that were initiated.

Further, Sanjay Singh posed a question pertaining to the alleged silence over fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi, fugitive liquor baron Nirav Modi, former cricket administrator and IPL founder Lalit Modi.

"Why has the ED remained silent against Nirav Modi, the scamster of Rs 20,000 crore? My question is why the ED and CBI don't act on robbers Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi, Reddy Brothers, Yeddyurappa, and Vyapam Scam? Why is no taken against all the corrupt people associated with you?" Sanjay Singh asked.

Sanjay Singh further said that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's house was raided for 14 hours, Arvind Kejriwal's house was raided and Satyendar Jain is lodged in jail.

"...raids were conducted on all the ministers. If you want to run the country with bullying and dictatorship, then put everyone in jail," Singh said.

In the House, Sanjay Singh also mentioned the ED's action on Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.

Previously, the AAP MP had said that the BJP was working towards destabilising non-BJP-ruled states and governments by misusing central agencies against opposition parties. He alleged the BJP had been doing so by giving inducements and threatening the MLAs.

"According to the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms, from 2014 to 2022, 211 MLAs and MPs defected and joined the BJP. The development proves that involuntary defections are capable of destroying the mandate not only at the level of the government but also at the level of the elected representatives. The operation aimed at subverting democracy has now reached the municipality," Singh said in Rajya Sabha on Monday.
