In the financial year 2020-21, there has been a decline of over Rs 420 crore in donations received by recognized political parties as compared to the previous financial year, which is 41.49 percent. This was reported on Thursday by the ADR analytical group regarding the elections. BJP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Congress, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and National People’s Party are the eight recognized national parties of the country. The corporate and business sector donated Rs 480.655 million to national parties, which was more than 80 percent of the total donations, while 2,258 individual donors contributed a total of Rs 111.65 million or 18.804 percent to these parties during the 2020-21 financial year. .

The BJP received over 1,100 donations from the corporate and business sector (Rs 416.794 crore), while 1,071 individual donors gave the party Rs 60.37 crore during the 2020-21 financial year. During the 2020-21 financial year, the Congress received a total of Rs 35.89 crore through 146 donations from the corporate sector and Rs 38.634 crore through 931 individual donors. Only BSP filed the report on time. The ADR report states that the last date for submission of donation reports for all parties was September 30, 2021. Only the Bahujan Samaj Party filed its report by this time limit. In addition, other national parties have delays ranging from 10 to 178 days.
