Out of the 117 successful candidates analysed in 2022, 58(50%) successful candidates have declared felony circumstances towards themselves. Out of 117 MLAs analysed throughout Punjab Assembly elections in 2017, 16(14%) MLAs had declared felony circumstances towards themselves, says a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms.

63 of 87 crorepatis in Punjab Assembly are from AAP

27 (23%) successful candidates have declared critical felony circumstances towards themselves. Out of 117 MLAs analysed throughout Punjab Assembly elections in 2017, 11 (9%) MLAs had declared critical felony circumstances towards themselves.

1 winner candidate has declared case associated to homicide (IPC Section-302) towards himself.

2 successful candidates have declared circumstances of try to homicide (IPC Section-307). 3 successful candidates have declared circumstances associated to crimes towards girls.

52 (57%) out of 92 successful candidates from AAP, 3(17%) out of 18 successful candidates from INC, 2(67%) out of three successful candidates from SAD and 1(50%) out of two successful candidates from BJP have declared felony circumstances towards themselves of their affidavits.

23 (25%) out of 92 successful candidates from AAP, 2(11%) out of 18 successful candidates from INC and a couple of(67%) out of three successful candidates from SAD have declared critical felony circumstances towards themselves of their affidavits.

Financial:

Out of the 117 successful candidates analysed, 87 (74%) are crorepatis. Out of 117 MLAs analysed throughout Punjab meeting elections 2017, 95 (81%) MLAs have been crorepatis.

63 (69%) out of 92 from AAP, 17 (94%) out of 18 from INC, 3 (100%) from SAD, 2 (100%) from BJP, 1 (100%) from BSP and 1 (100%) Independent successful candidates have declared property value greater than Rs. 1 crore.

The common of property per successful candidates within the Punjab Assembly Elections 2022 is Rs 10.45 Crores. The common of property per MLA within the Punjab Assembl y Elections 2017 was Rs 11.78 crore.

The common property per successful candidate for 92 AAP successful candidates is Rs 7.52 Crores, 18 INC successful candidates is Rs 22.73 Crores, 3 SAD successful candidates is Rs 15.03 Crores and a couple of BJP successful candidates have common property value Rs 2.49 Crores.

61 (52%) successful candidates have declared their age to be between 25 and 50 years whereas 56 (48%) successful candidates have declared their age to be between 51 and 80 years.

Out of 117 successful candidates analysed, 13 (11%) successful candidates are girls. In 2017, out of 117 MLAs, 6 (5%) MLAs have been girls.

Comparative evaluation:

Number of re-elected MLAs: Number of re-elected MLAs analysed within the Punjab meeting elections of 2022 is 25.

Average property of re-elected MLAs in 2017: The common property of re-elected MLAs in 2017 was Rs 17.07 crore.

Average property of re-elected MLAs in 2022: The common property of re-elected MLAs in 2022 is Rs 17.41 crores.

Average development in property of re-elected MLAs from 2017 to 2022: The development in common property of re-elected MLAs is Rs 34.84 lakhs i.e. by 2%.
