Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh took oath on Monday along with his 5 ministers. The special thing is that along with Chief Minister Singh, all his ministers are ‘crorepati’. This information has been given in a report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) on Tuesday. Singh on Monday took oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur for the second time in a row, 12 days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a majority in the February-March assembly elections. The election results were declared on March 10.

Nemcha Kipgen is the only woman minister in the Council of Ministers

Manipur Governor La. Ganesan administered the oath to Singh and five other ministers, Thogam Biswajit Singh, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Govinddas Konthoujam and Nemcha Kipgen, during a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal. Among these ministers, Nemcha Kipgen has become a minister from the Naga People’s Front quota, while all other ministers are from the BJP. Former minister Nemcha Kipgen Biren Singh is the only woman minister in the council of ministers. The ADR report said that they analyzed the affidavits of all the five ministers to the chief minister and found that their average assets are Rs 4.04 crore.

CM Biren Singh has assets worth Rs 1.47 crore
According to the ministers’ affidavits, the minister with the highest declared net worth is Govinddas Konthoujam, a former Manipur state Congress president and joined BJP last year. His assets are Rs 8.32 crore, while Biren Singh has assets of Rs 1.47 crore, which is the lowest among all ministers. The Chief Minister and other 5 ministers have declared liabilities, of which Yumnam Khemchand Singh, the minister with the highest liabilities, has a liability of Rs 59 lakh. Khemchand Singh is a former Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

No criminal case against any minister

One minister has declared his 10th class educational qualification, while 4 (67 per cent) ministers have declared to have a graduation or above educational qualification and another is a diploma holder. Chief Minister Singh and 5 other ministers have declared in their affidavits that there is no criminal case against them. The Biren Singh Council of Ministers will be expanded later, as the posts of 6 ministers are vacant. The Chief Minister said that he would soon expand his ministry.
