Assets of Himanta Biswa Sarma sees massive growth since 2016
Guwahati: Sitting MLA of Jalukbari constituency and state minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has declared to have assets worth over Rs 17 crore, as revealed by the Assam Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Assets of Sarma of BJP have risen by Rs 10.89 crores from Rs 6.38 crores in 2016 to Rs 17.27 crores in 2021.
The latest report also said that assets of the MLAs who were reelected in 2021 from 2016 shot up heavily during the period.
The report shows that, Naba Kumar Doley of BJP from Dhakuakhana (ST) constituency has declared maximum increase in assets with an increase of Rs 18.22 crores from Rs 7.30 crores in 2016 to Rs 25.52 crores in 2021.
Meanwhile, assets of Nijam Uddin Choudhury of AIUDF from Algapur constituency have risen by Rs 11.10 crores, from Rs 2.71 crores in 2016 to Rs 13.81 in 2021.
Out of the parties, major growth has been seen in assets of the MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) between 2016 and 2021.
The assets of BJP’s 45 MLA’s have increased by 108.13% during the five years, followed by AIUDF’s 7 MLAs with an increase by 107.76%.
The average asset growth of 90 contestants, who are re-contesting MLAs, between the assembly ecetion of 2016 and 2021 is Rs 1.91 crore.
