 In the fiscal year 2022-23, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received donations totaling over 250 crore rupees, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), a poll watchdog organization.

The BJP accounted for more than 70 percent of the donations received by political parties from electoral trusts during this period.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) received approximately 25 percent of the donations.

The ADR analyzed contribution reports from electoral trusts and found that 39 corporate and business houses contributed a total of 363 crore rupees.

Out of these, 34 corporate and business houses donated 360 crore rupees to the Prudent Electoral Trust, one company donated 2 crore rupees to the Samaj Electoral Trust, two companies donated 75.50 lakh rupees to the Paribartan Electoral Trust, and two companies donated 50 lakh rupees to the Triumph Electoral Trust.

The BJP received 259.08 crore rupees, which is 70.69 percent of the total donations received by all political parties from electoral trusts.

The BRS received 90 crore rupees, accounting for 24.56 percent of the total donations.

The ADR also stated that the YSR Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Congress collectively received a total of 17.40 crore rupees.

The Prudent Electoral Trust donated 256.25 crore rupees to the BJP, compared to 336.50 crore rupees in the previous fiscal year.

The Samaj ET Association donated 1.50 crore rupees to the BJP in 2022-23.

Additionally, the Samaj Electoral Trust donated 50 lakh rupees to the Congress, while the Prudent Electoral Trust donated to four political parties – the BJP, BRS, YSR Congress, and AAP.
