ADR Report Said BJP Received Rs 174 Cr Corporate Donations Between 2017 And 2021 From Gujarat

Political parties received a whopping Rs174.06 crore as corporate donations from Gujaration between the financial year 2016-17 and 2020-21.
In all, 1571 donations were made from Gujarat during the period, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) said. The beneficiaries of the donations were BJP, INC, AAP and SKP (Sanyukt Kisan Morcha).
ADR analysed the funds declared by political parties from Gujarat for the said period in the context of the upcoming assembly elections.
The ADR report said that Gujarat accounted for 4.34% of the total corporate donations of Rs4014.58 crore received by political parties in India in five years. The ADR report is based on an analysis of data obtained from contribution reports submitted by the political parties to the ECI.
The highest corporate donations worth Rs48.832 crore were received in the year 2018-19 from 532 donations in Gujarat. The ADR report said that during the five years, BJP declared the highest corporate donations worth Rs163.544 crore from 1,519 donations.
In the run-up to the 2022 Gujarat assembly elections, BJP received the maximum of corporate donations to the tune of Rs38.988 crore from 417 donors in the financial year 2020-21.
INC got Rs10.464 crore from 11 donations, AAP Rs3.3 lakh from two donations while SKM got Rs 2 lakh from a single donation.
During the period six Gujarat-based companies made donations to political parties via the Prudent Electoral Trust.
