In Goa, 40 percent of the winning candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves. While 33 per cent declared serious criminal cases. The ADR said that 51 percent of the winning candidates in Uttar Pradesh declared criminal cases.

Election rights organization Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR Report) said on Tuesday that the recently held assembly elections in five states (Assembly Election 2022) About 45 percent of the winning candidates have criminal cases against themselves (Criminal Cases) have been declared. ADR has analyzed the self-attested affidavits of all the 690 winning candidates in the assembly elections of Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

The ADR said that out of 690 candidates, 219 (32 per cent) winning candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves. The report said that out of 312 winning candidates who declared criminal cases against them, 134 were from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 71 of Samajwadi Party, 52 of Aam Aadmi Party, Congress. ) has 24 and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has seven candidates.

87 percent winning candidate Crorepati

The ADR said that around 87 per cent or 598 winning candidates are crorepatis and the average assets of a winning candidate is Rs 8.7 crore. He said that 40 per cent of the winning candidates in Goa have declared criminal cases against themselves. While 33 per cent declared serious criminal cases. The ADR said that 51 percent of the winning candidates in Uttar Pradesh declared criminal cases. While 39 per cent declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

Criminal cases against 23% candidates in Manipur

Similarly, in Punjab, 50 per cent of the winning candidates declared criminal cases while 23 per cent declared serious criminal cases against themselves, it said. The ADR said that 27 percent of the winning candidates in the Uttarakhand elections have declared criminal cases against themselves and 14 percent have declared serious criminal cases, while 23 percent of the candidates who won the Manipur elections have criminal cases against them. While 18 per cent declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

33 winning candidates (29 of them from UP) have declared cases of attempt to murder against themselves. While 12 (of which six are from UP) have declared cases of crime against women. The six winning candidates have declared cases related to murder in their affidavits. The 312 winners who have declared their criminal cases include leaders from BJP, Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal.
