Donations to foreign countries fell by over Rs 420 crore, down by 44.149 percent from previous fiscal . Donations to the BJP fell from Rs 785.77 crore to Rs 477.54 crore during FY 2020-21 . 

According to a poll reform advocacy group, the contributions that foreign countries received during financial year 2020-21 fell by over Rs 420 crore, down by 44.149 percent from the previous fiscal.The decrease in contributions could be attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused a shut down.The first wave of Covid began around the end of March 2020, just before the start of the financial year, triggering a national shutdown.Donations to the BJP fell from Rs 785.77 crore to Rs 477.54 crore during FY 2020-21, down 39.23 percent.According to a statement issued by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), contributions by the national parties increased by 5.88 per cent during FY 2019-20 to Rs 74.524 crore during FY 2020-21, compared to a decrease of 46.39 per cent by the parties, while 1,071 individual donors contributed Rs 111.65 crore (or 18.804 per cent) to the organization during FY 2020-21.Only the BSP submitted its contribution report on schedule, while NCP, TMC, CPI-M, NPP, Congress, BJP, and CPI all submitted theirs after a delay of 10, 117, 136, 137, 161, 164, and 178 days, respectively.
