AHMEDABAD: New Delhi-based Associationfor Democratic Reforms (ADR) on International Women’s Day analyzed the members of parliament (MPs) and members of legislative assembly (MLAs) in India and mentioned that only 9% of the 4,685 MPs and MLAs are women. Out of the 440 MPs/MLAs, 70% have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore.

Upper House of the parliament has 11% women lawmakers whereas the Lower House has 12%, mentioned the report. According to the report, Gujarat ranks 13th in terms of women MLAs whereas bags second spot among the major states in terms of women MPs.
