The Socialist Party (India) on Wednesday stated it was imperative to bring political parties under the RTI Act for transparency and changes in the political system in the country.

Party general secretary Prem Singh also demanded that the election manifesto be made a legal document, and penal action taken against any party and its leaders if they fail to implement the manifesto.Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) member Professor Jagdeep Chhokar detailed attempts to bring parties under RTI Act, and how the parties had been opposing it.
