No less than 17 % of the candidates contesting the second part of Manipur Meeting polls have declared prison instances whereas 57 % are crorepatis, a brand new report from the Affiliation for Democratic Reforms (ADR) stated. The Manipur Election Watch and ADR have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 92 candidates who’re contesting within the Manipur Meeting Elections Part II in 22 constituencies, to be held on March 5. Simply two feminine candidates are contesting on this part.

“Out of 92 candidates analysed, 16 (17%) candidates have declared prison instances in opposition to themselves… 14 (15%) have declared critical prison instances in opposition to themselves,” it stated.

Among the many main events, 4 out of 10 candidates analysed from JD(U), 4 out of 18 candidates analysed from Congress, two out of 11 candidates analysed from Nationwide Individuals’s Get together (NPP) and two out of 22 candidates analysed from BJP have declared prison instances in opposition to themselves of their affidavits.

Additional, 4 every from JD(U) and Congress and one every from NPP and BJP have declared critical prison instances in opposition to themselves, the report added.

No less than three candidates have declared instances associated to crime in opposition to ladies together with one who has declared case associated to rape (IPC Part-376). One candidate has declared instances associated to ‘try to homicide’ (IPC Part-307) in opposition to himself.

Two out of 22 constituencies are ‘pink alert’ constituencies, that means three or extra contesting candidates have declared prison instances in opposition to themselves.

Out of the 92 candidates, 52 (57%) are crorepatis, the report stated, including the common of property per candidate contesting within the second part elections is Rs 2.61 crore.
