According to an analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms or the ADR, political parties in Manipur seem to have promoted candidates with money power and criminal backgrounds.The BJP has fielded the most candidates with criminal cases, followed by the JD(U).At least 21% of the 173 candidates in Manipur for the first phase elections have filed criminal allegations.Sixteen percent of them have serious civil cases against them.
