A total of 96 of the 1,184 candidates contesting the forthcoming civic polls in 10 municipal councils in Pune district and four in Latur district, are crorepatis.  Raju Tukaram Bhosale contesting from Shirur Municipal Council in Pune district tops the list of crorepatis with declared assets worth over Rs 16 crore. 

These interesting facts were thrown up during an analysis of the affidavits of the candidates by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Maharashtra Elections Watch. 

In a statement, ADR said that 51 candidates declared zero assets in the two districts while the average assets per candidate is Rs 39 lakh. “Altogether, 294 candidates declared their assets below Rs two lakh in both the districts,” added ADR. 

Interestingly, the candidate with highest declared total liabilities is Laxman Maruti Parthe, who is contesting from Saswad Municipal Council in Pune district and has liabilities of Rs 4 crore. 

As far as the ages of the candidates are concerned, 63 candidates declared their ages to be between 21 and 24 years, 213 candidates declared their ages to be between 25 and 30 years, while 390 candidates are between 31 and 40 years. A total of 298 candidates declared their ages to be between 41 and 50 years, 157 candidates between 51 and 60 years, 55 candidates between 61 and 70 years, while eight candidates are between 71 and 80 years of age.
