While Rajasthan gears up for the assembly polls due on December 7, reports have surfaced claiming that the number of candidates with criminal records has spiked this year as compared to 2013. The list of candidates in fray for the assembly polls this time, has more multimillionaire candidates, with assets worth Rs 5 crore and above, reports said. According to a report by India Today, Congress has the highest number of candidates with criminal cases followed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018 Full Schedule And Dates: Single-Phase Voting on December 7.

The report further informed that the Rajasthan Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has analysed and studied the affidavits of 2,188 out of the 2,294 candidates, who are contesting in the Rajasthan assembly election. The India Today further states that, of the total 2,188 candidates analysed, 608 are from national parties, 209 are from state parties, 584 are from registered unrecognised parties and 787 candidates are contesting independently. Full Schedule of Five-State Assembly Elections 2018.

According to the report, 224 candidates out of the 2,030 candidates had declared criminal cases against themselves., while 195 candidates have declared serious criminal cases this time against the 140 in 2013 Rajasthan assembly election. In terms of wealth, 179 candidates have assets worth Rs 5 crore and above while there are 212 candidates with assets between Rs 2 crore and Rs 5 crore. Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018 Voter Slip: Check Your Name on Constituency-Wise Voter List Online on ceorajasthan.nic.in. 

Political parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters for the upcoming polls. The polling in Rajasthan will be held in a single phase on December 7 across the 200 seats. The results will be declared on December 11, along with the four other states- Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.
