A third of the total 78 ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves, says ADR report

Among newly inducted cabinet ministers, three ministers have declared serious criminal cases. In all, 14 ministers have declared serious criminal cases including cases related to attempt to murder, communal disharmony, electoral violations etc, showed a report by National Election Watch (NEW) and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
As many as 19 new ministers were inducted in the cabinet on July 5.
The report said that among the newly inducted cabinet ministers, seven have declared criminal cases against themselves. Out of the all 78 Ministers analysed, 24 (31 percent) ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves.
Among the newly elected cabinet ministers, Ramesh Jigajinagi of Bijapur constituency has declared two cases related to bribery (IPC Section-171E). In all, 5 (6 percent) ministers have declared cases related to electoral violations.
Interestingly, 72 of the 78 ministers are crorepatis.
The average assets of the newly inducted ministers is Rs. 8.73 crores. In all, the average assets per minister is Rs.12.94 crores.
Among the newly inducted ministers, Mubbashar Javal Akbar, Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh declared the highest total assets of Rs. 44.90 crores followed by P P Choudhary from Pali constituency with assets worth Rs. 35.35 crores and Vijay Goel, Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan with total assets worth Rs. 29.97 crores.
