The Odisha Election Watch launched a unique campaign ‘Hum Badlenge Apna Bharat’ in collaboration with the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), the National Service Scheme (NSS), Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha.

The main purpose of the campaign is to increase youth participation in strengthening democracy and to make future voters an influencer for the adult members of their family and encourage them to be a responsible and proactive citizen when they turn 18.

Also to make them understand the need and value of practicing informed and ethical voting and how it leads to good governance. The campaign would take place in 100 +2 educational institutions on pilot basis.

A training of trainers and facilitators took place here with participation of 50 NSS programme officers and election watch facilitators.

Former Chief Secretary Odisha Dr Sahadev Sahoo, former Head, Political Science, Utkal University Prof Surya Narayan Mishra,  Programme Coordinator ,NSS, CHSE Deepak Kumar Behera, Coordinator Odisha Election Watch Ranjan Kumar Mohanty spoke on the occasion  and Aparna Lal conducted the training.

The programme was launched through a campus workshop at the Royal College of Science and Technology in cooperation with Rotary club of Heritage Bhubaneswar. President Rotary Club of Heritage Bhubaneswar and chairman Royal Science College Bishnu Mohan Mohanty, Dr Sahadev Sahoo, Ranjan Kumar Mohanty , Anuradha Mohanty spoke to the students on democratic values , their duties and responsibilities as citizens of India to strengthen democracy and promoting good governance.
