Uttar Pradesh State Consultation on Electoral and Political Reforms: 2nd & 3rd June 2012 at Hotel Gomti, Lucknow

A 2 day convention by Uttar Pradesh Election Watch (UPEW)/ADR is scheduled to be held in June 2012, Lucknow.

At a time when the need for and efforts towards reforms in governance and the political system is being eagerly debated, the Convention will attempt to synergise the thoughts and efforts of various stakeholders in the process. The delegates to this conference will therefore include representatives of the Election Commission of India, organizations from all the districts in Uttar Pradesh, eminent citizens, media persons, bureaucrats and leaders from various political parties.

We are expecting vibrant discussions on the proposed electoral reforms of the government  and political party reforms. Apart from these the members of Uttar Pradesh Election Watch(UPEW) from all over the state, NGOs and youth will present and share their experience based on the recently concluded Election Watch Process in Uttar Pradesh for Assembly Elections held in 2012. 

At the end of two days, Resolutions on Electoral and Political reforms are expected to be passed and a comprehensive strategy and way forward for future elections is expected to be brought out.
