Around 191 candidates contesting the Punjab and Uttarakhand Assembly polls had never filed Income Tax returns.
As many as 42 candidates in Uttarakhand have not declared their PAN details while 47 candidates in Punjab do not have a PAN number.
According to the data released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the National Election Watch, out of the 42 candidates in Uttarakhand, who have not declared their PAN details, six candidates are crorepatis.
99 candidates out of the 278 candidates in Uttarakhand have declared that they have never filed I-T returns. Among them, Shahjad of the BSP has the highest assets, approximately Rs 6.52 crore, followed by Kaleem of the BJP with assets worth around Rs 3.15 crore.
31 candidates of the BSP and 24 candidates of UKD (P) have never filed I-T returns. While the BJP has 20 such candidates, the Congress has only 10 candidates.
In Punjab, a total number of 92 candidates out of 408 candidates analysed for the Assembly elections have declared that they had never filed I-T returns.
