Andhra Pradesh has some of India’s richest politicians hoping to be elected to India’s lower house in the parliament.

Most of the candidates from Andhra Pradesh made their money in industry. On average, they own assets worth $1.4 million according to their nomination filings and the Association for Democratic Reforms. That is more than the candidates in most other states.

The two largest national parties, Congress and BJP hold no significant sway in the state which is dominated by regional parties such as Yuvajan Sramika Rythu Congress, Telugu Desam Party and Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

A businessman and candidate for YSR Congress from the Narasaraopet constituency,Ayodhya Rami Reddy Alla owns total assets worth $107 million -– making him one of the richest political aspirants in India. Koneru Prasad, who is contesting from the Vijayawada constituency for the same party, has assets worth $23 million.

The TDP candidates are worth a whopping $11 million on average .

Nama Nageshwara Rao, a candidate of the Telegu Desam Party from the Khammam constituency, has assets worth $55 million. Jayadev Galla, also from the TDPis worth $104 million.

The candidates of TRS, a party that demands the separate state of Telangana be carved out of the Andhra Pradesh, are worth an average of $7 million each. One of its members, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, and his wife own assets worth $76 million.
