An analysis of the assets of 163 members of the legislative assembly(MLAs) in Rajasthan who are contesting the elections suggests that on an average, their assets have grown 139 per cent between 2008 and 2013.
In the analysis done by Association of Democratic Reform (ADR), an independent watchdog, the average assets of the MLAs was 1.86 crore. This has gone up to Rs 4.45 crore in 2013, which represents a 139 per cent increase.
Anjna Udailal, the Congress MLA from Nimbahera constituency, has declared maximum increase in assets with an increase of Rs 29.35 crore - from Rs 36.19 crore in 2008 to Rs 65.55 crore in 2013.
The wealth of Ashok Parnami of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Adarsh Nagar constituency has increased by Rs 22.95 crore, from Rs 3.66 crore in 2008 to Rs 26.61 crore in 2013.
Congress MLA from Anta constituency Pramod Bhaya's assets have risen by Rs 22.16 crore - from Rs 5.36 crore in 2008 to Rs 27.53 crore in 2013.
However, the assets of some MLAs have decreased. The highest decrease has been shown by Vijay Kumar of BJP (46% decline - from Rs 3.88 crore in 2008 to Rs 2.09 crore in 2013) from Bharatpur constituency and Anju Devi Dhanka, an Independent MLA from Bassi constituency, has shown 19% decline in assets - from Rs 31.66 lakh in 2008 to Rs 25.50 lakh in 2013.
