Punjab Election Watch has moved a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against Punjab chief minister's adviser and senior BJP leader Trikshan Sood, senior BJP leader and Punjab Child Rights Commission chairman Swaran Salaia and Congress MLA and member of national SC Commission Dr Raj Kumar Verka for openly campaigning during elections despite holding government or constitutional posts.

PEW activists Jaskirat Singh and P S Kitna in their complaint to the CEO V K Singh alleged that Sood was openly campaigning for BJP candidate from Hoshiarpur despite he was getting salary from the state government for his post. It may be mentioned here that to avoid any such issued SAD has already made CM and Dy CM's 's media advisors to resign and they had been appointed on organizations posts. CM's media advisor Harcharan Bains was appointed general secretary of the SAD to facilitate his working for the party without any legal hiccups.

The PEW also wrote that Swaran Salaia was not only participating in political rallies of the BJP but was making open announcement to campaign for the party after he initially announced to contest the election as an independent.

"Raj Kumar Verka was issuing notices to senior opfficials of Punjab and other states till recently being member of the National SC Commission and was now campaigning for Congress candidate in Amritsar. PEW said that a complaint against him for holding dual offices of MLA and National SC Commission member were pending.

PEW has asked the CEO to take action against the three.
