Punjab has the highest number of crorepati ministers of all the five states going for assembly polls, according to National Election Watch.

Almost 83% ministers of the outgoing government in Punjab have declared assets worth 1 crore or more. Goa and Uttar Pradesh follow Punjab with 67% and 37% of their ministers, respectively, belonging to the crorepati club.

SAD President Sukhbir Badal leads the rich ministers' pack in Punjab. He declared assets worth 76.36 crore on Monday.

His father and Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who filed nomination from Lambi on Tuesday, has movable assets of 1.21 crore, and immovable assets worth 5.52 crore. 

Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who filed his nomination papers from Jalalabad, has assets worth 76.36 crore but does not own a car according to his declaration in the nomination. He,owns a tractor worth 2.68 lakh. Two years ago, while contesting by-polls, Sukhbir had declared assets worth 64.05 crore with two tractors in his name. His wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has assets worth 3.90 crore. 

Sukhbir's brother-in-law Bikram Singh Majithia, a SAD candidate from Majitha constituency in Amritsar, also falls in crorepati club. Majithia's total assets have gone up by over 2 crore compared to the last time. Majithia has declared total assets worth 11.21 crore.

State Congress chief Capt. Amarinder Singh, who filed nominations from Patiala, owns a flat in Dubai worth 80 lakh. His individual assets are worth over 1.10 crore. As the head of an undivided family, his assets are worth 39.39 crore.

 
Among the Congress candidates, Avtar Henry, who is contesting from the Jalandhar North seat, has declared assets worth 13.95 crore. He has immovable property worth 8.59 crore and movable property worth 5.36 crore.

Punjab BJP vice-president Som Parkash, who is contesting from Phagwara, has declared assets worth over 2.4 crore. He owns movable assets worth 42,30,191 and immovable property of 2 crore. His better half Anita owns movable assets of 20,98,607 and no immovable property.
