Delhi Election News: Karnail Singh- BJP’s candidate from Shakur Basti- has the highest valued assets worth nearly Rs 260 crore, making him the richest candidate to fight in the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly election scheduled to be held on 5 February. Results of the polls will be declared on 8 February.

In the fray, BJP has three out of five of the richest candidates, as per Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR). There is a massive disparity in the financial background of candidates for the upcoming election as there are five billionaires with assets over Rs 100 crore each fighting in the polls while three candidates have “zero" assets as per the financial details in their election affidavits.

The four billionaire contestants in the Delhi Assembly elections, other than Karnail Singh, include BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden (Rs 249 crore), Congress’s Gurcharan Singh from Krishna Nagar (Rs 131 crore), BJP’s Parvesh Verma from New Delhi (Rs 116 crore) and AAP’s A Dhanwati Chandela from Rajouri Garden (Rs 110 crore).

Three candidates with zero assets are: Shabana from Rashtriya Republican Party contesting from the Seelam Pur constituency, Yogesh Kumar from Matiala constituency and Mohinder Singh representing the Matiala constituency.

As per ADR, BJP candidates lead with assets of Rs 22.9 crore on average, followed by the Congress with Rs 14.4 crore and AAP with Rs 11.7 crore.
