The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has been in power in the country since 2014. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has analysed the increase and decrease in the assets of re-elected Members of Parliament across the country, including Gujarat, over the past 10 years.

During this period, seven MPs have been re-elected in Gujarat. Among them, Jamnagar MP Poonam Maadam has recorded a massive increase of ₹130 crore in assets over the past 10 years. In contrast, Union Minister and former Gujarat BJP state president C.R. Patil has seen a surprising decline of 47 per cent in his assets.

ADR report covers 102 of 103 re-elected MPs

ADR has released a report on the assets of 102 out of a total of 103 re-elected MPs between 2014 and 2024. The analysis is based on affidavits filed by the MPs at different points in time during this period.

Average assets of MPs rise by over ₹17 crore

Over the last 10 years, the average assets of re-elected MPs have increased by ₹17.36 crore. In 2014, the average declared assets stood at ₹15.76 crore, which rose to ₹33.13 crore by 2024. In percentage terms, this reflects an increase of approximately 110 per cent.

Maharashtra MP tops asset list nationwide

Among all re-elected MPs between 2014 and 2024, the highest assets in the country belong to Maharashtra MP Shrimant Udayanraje. His total assets stand at ₹162 crore. Udayanraje Pratapsinh Maharaj Bhonsle had declared assets worth ₹60 crore in 2014, which increased by 268 per cent to ₹162 crore in 2024.
