The TDP and YSRCP are among the regional parties in the country that continue to receive huge political funding via individuals and electoral bonds, whether in power or not, as per a report from the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

BRS’ funding, however, has reportedly fallen by 82 per cent.

What does the data show?

The Telugu Desam Party received Rs 100 crore in 2023-2024 and Rs 83 crore in the following year. YSRCP, which is currently in the opposition in Andhra Pradesh, received Rs 62 crore in 2023-2024 and Rs 140 crore in the following year.

BRS got Rs 495 crore via electoral bonds in 2023-2024

BRS, sitting in the opposition in Telangana, has plunged in terms of its funding.

From receiving Rs 580 crore in 2023-2024, its political funding dropped to Rs 15 crore in 2024-2025. What is pertinent is that it has received zero funding via electoral bonds in 2024-2025 when compared to Rs 495 crore received in 2023-2024.

- Union Minister Pemmasani family’s contribution of Rs 47.15 crore puts them among the top donors in the country.

- Prudent Electoral Trust emerged as the largest donor across both financial years, contributing Rs 434 crore through 38 donations (Rs 253.50 crore in FY 2024–25 and Rs 180.50 crore in FY 2023–24), accounting for over 52 per cent of the total contributions made by the top 10 donors.

- Tiger Associates was the second-largest donor, contributing Rs 160 crore through five donations, all made during FY 2024–25.

- Progressive Electoral Trust (Rs 70 crore), Vedanta Limited (Rs 45 crore) and AB General Electoral Trust (Rs 32 crore) featured among the top five donors, with all their contributions made during FY 2024–25.
