Many years ago Jagdeep bhai (as I fondly addressed him) took me under his wings, loved me, guided me, and shielded me like a hawk against the on slaughts of many mischief mongers, who were hell-bent on ruining the smooth functioning of our A Block Security.

Many years of meticulous planning under the aegis and hard work of stalwarts—the likes of Dr. Sneh Bhargava and Gen. A. P. Palta—had gone into creating a safe environment for more than 300 families of our A Block.

A court case was even filed personally against me. Professor Chhokar escorted me to umpteen hearings and fought relentlessly as a lawyer to safeguard the security of our A Block.

Finally we got relief and were granted status quo by the courts. He was brusque, fearless, and outspoken; called a spade a spade; rubbed many on the wrong side; was feared by many; yet was affable, reached out to one and all, built bridges between different communities, irrespective of caste, creed, or color, and stood like a rock of Gibraltar against any injustice. He had a clear conscience, and above all, he had of GOLD!

Was blessed and honored to have him in our lives. Love and strength to Kiran.

Gonna miss his presence but will continue to soar ahead with zeal, determination, and courage!
