Of the 107 MPs and MLAs from across India who have been booked for hate speech, three are from Punjab, revealed a report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW) on Tuesday.

Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha, AAP’s Dasuya MLA Karambir Singh and Congress’s Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh are three lawmakers from Punjab who have declared cases of hate speech.

In all, Punjab is far behind many other states when it comes to such cases.

Highest number of such cases have been reported from Uttar Pradesh (16), followed by Bihar (12), Tamil Nadu and Telangana (both 9), Maharashtra (8), Assam (7), Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal (6 each), Karnataka (5), and Delhi and Jharkhand (both 4).
