With less than 10 days to the general elections, candidates in the fray have disclosed their personal information, including assets, criminal cases, education, and others.

According to an analysis of the candidates conducted by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), about 28 per cent of them in phase one are “crorepatis,” i.e. they possess assets exceeding Rs 1 crore.

The report shows the average assets per candidate amount to Rs 4.51 crore, showing the massive disparity in wealth.

It suggests all four RJD candidates, 35 out of 36 candidates of the AIADMK, 21 out of 22 DMK candidates, 69 out of 77 BJP candidates, 49 out of 56 Congress nominees, four out of five TMC candidates, and 18 out of 86 BSP candidates have assets exceeding Rs 1 crore.
