Seven regional parties namely AIADMK, BJD, NDPP, SDF, AIFB, PMK and JKNC did not declare any donations in 2021-22 financial year.

TRS received the highest donations among regional parties followed by AAP and JDU during the 2021-22 financial year, reveals a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released today. A total amount of 5100 donations worth Rs 189.801 crore have been received from 26 regional parties. Seven regional parties namely AIADMK, BJD, NDPP, SDF, AIFB, PMK and JKNC did not declare any donations in this fiscal.

TRS leads the regional party list with Rs 40.90 crore from 14 donations. Of which, seven donations amounting to Rs 40.25 crore was from corporate and business sectors and remaining seven were from individual donors who donated Rs 65.00 lakh.

AAP is the second highest regional party to receive Rs 38.243 crore from 2619 donations. JDU is the third highest among all regional parties with Rs 33.257 crore. SP and YSR-Congress have declared total donations worth Rs 29.795 and Rs 20.01 crore respectively. A total of 86.46 per cent (amounting to Rs 162.21 crore) of the total donations have been received by five regional parties alone.

Out of the total donations declared by the regional parties, Rs 740120 from 21 donations were received in cash. This formed 0.039 per cent of the total donations to the parties. Maximum donations in cash were declared by IUML, which collected a total of Rs 5.55 lakh, followed by KC-M with Rs 1 lakh, PDF with Rs 80,000, PPA with Rs 5,000 and AAP with Rs 120.

Among all the states receiving donations in cash, donors from Tamil Nadu made the highest cash donations of Rs 5.55 lakh followed by donors from Arunachal Pradesh who donated a total of Rs 5,000 in cash. Donations worth Rs 1.80 lakhs in cash did not have address details, of which two regional parties namely KC-M and PDF have received such donations.

As per the state-wise donation declaration, Delhi received the highest donations of Rs 118.178 crore. Next comes Punjab with Rs 13.528 crore and Karnataka is the third highest state to receive Rs 9.896 crore. Nearly 4.78 per cent (amounting to Rs 1.828 crore) of the total donations were received from abroad by AAP.

A total of Rs 136.04 crore was received by the regional parties from 377 donations made by the corporate and business sectors while Rs 50.436 crore was donated by 4693 individual donors. On the other hand, national parties received Rs 153.328 crore from 2551 donations from corporate and business sectors.

ADR analysed 33 out of 54 regional parties, of which only 19 submitted their donation reports to the Election Commission of India (ECI) within the stipulated time period. Fourteen other parties delayed their submission.
