Out of the total 64 candidates contesting in the third phase of Lok sabha polls in Odisha, 28 candidates are crorepatis, stated the report of Odisha Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

The richest candidate happens to be BJD’s Cuttack Lok Sabha nominee Santrupt Misra with assets worth over Rs 482.21 crore. The second in the list is BJD’s Dhenkanal candidate Abinash Samal with assets worth over Rs 36.78 crore.

The BSP candidate contesting from Keonjhar, Ram Prasad Hembram is the third richest in this phase of parliamentary polls in Odisha. He has assets worth over Rs 35.81 crore.

In contrast, Dillip Lumar Baral, an independent candidate from the Puri Lok Sabha seat is the poorest as he has declared assets worth only Rs 4,032.

The BJP and Congress have fielded four crorepati candidates each, three BSP candidates and one from Utkal Samaj are crorepatis.

In the third phase, voting will be held in six Lok Sabha seats and 42 Assembly constituencies under them in Odisha on May 25.

These six LS constituencies are- Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Puri and Sambalpur.
