Andhra Pradesh: The wealth of the current chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and former CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu skyrocketed in the last five years, revealed data.

While Naidu’s wealth increased by around 39 per cent, CM Jagan’s wealth increased by around 48 per cent from 2019 to 2024.

Analysis of the wealth of candidates done by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) – an independent election watch body – found that Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP from the Kuppam constituency has declared a maximum increase in assets with an increase of Rs 263.26 crores i.e. from Rs 668.57 crores in 2019 to Rs 931.83 crores in 2024.

Similarly, the assets of Yeluri Sambasiva Rao of the TDP from the Parchur constituency have increased by Rs 253.90 crores; from Rs 41.90 crores in 2019 to Rs 295.80 crores in 2024.

The assets of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSRCP from the Pulivendula constituency have risen by Rs 247.26 crores; from Rs 510.38 crores in 2019 to Rs 757.65 crores in 2024.

Analysing change in assets of MLAs

The ADR analysed the affidavits of 134 re-contesting MLAs and the study found that the assets of 123 MLAs (92%) have increased ranging from 1 per cent to 973 per cent and assets of 11 MLAs (8%) have decreased ranging from -2 per cent to -50 per cent.

As per data from the election affidavits submitted by the election candidates, one of India’s richest MP candidates is TDP’s Pemmasani Chandrasekhar from Guntur with assets worth Rs 5,785.28 crores.

Average asset growth in 5 years (2019-2024): The average growth of assets for the 134 re-contesting MLAs, between the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections of 2019 and 2024 is Rs 18 crores.

Percentage growth in five years (2019-2024): The average percentage growth in assets for the 134 re-contesting MLAs is 57 per cent.
