Electoral bonds worth Rs 277 crore sold since General Elections – Affiliation for Democratic Reform said. The most elevated has been in the month of April 2019 compared to any month. The worth of electoral bonds sold since March 2018 has come to Rs 6,128 crore by October, the association said.
According to ADR’s data, 12,313 electoral bonds worth Rs. 6128 crore sold from March 2018 to Oct 2019 and in May electoral bonds worth Rs 822 crore were sold taken after Rs 45 crore in July and Rs 232 crore in October.
State Bank of India had prior said that it sold elective bonds worth Rs 3,622 crore in March and April 2019. The month of April, amid which Rs 2,256 crore worth of electoral bonds were sold ahead of the elections, remains the period with the most noteworthy deal. In January and March, electoral bonds worth Rs 1,716.05 crore were sold as compared to Rs 1,056.73 crore issued in six rounds in 2018.
In April, a Right to Information inquiry had uncovered 99.8% of gifts that political parties received through electoral bonds between March 2018 and January 24, 2019, were the most noteworthy Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1 crore.
Electoral bonds are financial instruments that citizens or corporate groups can purchase from the State Bank of India and provide to a political party, which is at that point free to redeem them for cash. The scheme was presented in January 2018.
