Shivakumar, an MLA from Kanakapura Assembly constituency and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, has declared his asset worth Rs 1,413 crore.

The salary of Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) has witnessed massive hikes in recent times. However, different states offer different pay to their MLAs. While Telanga and Delhi provide their MLAs highest salary, Tripura offers the lowest. According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Congress MLA DK Shivakumar is the richest MLA in India with assets worth over Rs 1400 crore. On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Nirmal Kumar Dhara does not even have assets worth Rs 2000.

Shivakumar, an MLA from Kanakapura Assembly constituency and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, has declared his asset worth Rs 1,413 crore.

Second and third on the list of richest MLAs are independent MLA KH Puttaswamy Gowda and Congress MLA Priya Krishna, respectively.

While Gowda has declared his asset worth Rs 1,267 crore, Krishna owns the assets worth Rs 1,156 crore.

It is worth mentioning here that four of the richest MLAs belong to Congress and three are from the BJP which led to war of words between the two parties.

While Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad accused BJP legislators of corrupt, the saffron party leaders said the grand old part loves rich people only.

Gali Janardhan Reddy is placed on 23rd spot in the list of richest MLAs.

Dhara, a BJP MLA from West Bengal’s Indus constituency, is at the last spot in the list, with having assets of Rs 1700 only.

The second last and third last in the list are Odisha’s Independent MLA Makaranda Muduli and Punjab AAP legislator Narinder Pal Singh Sawna.

While Muduli declared his asset worth Rs 15,000, Sawna owns the assets worth Rs 18,370.

In the list of country’s richest MLAs, Karnataka stands at the top with 12 legislators. Arunachal Pradesh is listed at second place with 4 MLAs.
