CHANDIGARH: With Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Naina Chautala topping the table, 62 MLAs of various parties, who are seeking re-election to the state assembly, have recorded an average assets growth of Rs 3.62 crore over the past five years.
According to a report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Abhimanyu recorded an asset growth of 120%. According to Abhimanyu’s affidavit filed for the 2019 assembly elections, his assets grew from Rs 93 crore in 2014 to Rs 170 crore now.
Naina’s assets, according to the ADR report, went up by 52%, rising from Rs 60 crore in 2014 to over Rs 91 crore now.
The other three MLAs in the top five include Kuldeep Bishnoi of the Congress, Abhay Singh Chautala of the Indian National Lok Dal(INLD) and Randeep Singh Surjewala of the Congress.

Abhay has recorded a growth of 54%, but his assets are less than that of his sister-in-law Naina. Randeep recorded a growth of 173%, but his assets are quite less as compared to other five. According to the report, he had declared the assets worth Rs 4.59 crore in 2014 elections. This year he has declared assets worth Rs 12.53 crore.
Kuldeep made a declaration of Rs 80 crore in assets in the 2014 elections. They have now gone up to Rs 105 crore. Bishnoi has also faced action from the income tax sleuths.
