A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) informed that out of the 32 ministers in Karnataka, 24 have criminal cases against them and 31 (97%) are crorepatis

The Karnataka cabinet was expanded on Saturday and is now complete with 32 ministers. A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) informed that out of the 32 ministers, 24 have criminal cases against them and 31 (97%) are crorepatis. The average assets of the ministers stood at 119.06 crore with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar declaring the highest number of assets worth 1,413.80 crore.

Timmapur Ramappa Balappa, a minister from the Mudhol (SC) constituency has declared the lowest number of assets worth 58.56 lakh.

The ADR report also mentioned the number of assets of the sole woman minister Laxmi R. Hebbalkar from Belgaum constituency who declared assets worth over 13 crore and liabilities worth over 5 crore.

In terms of education, the ADR report said that out of 32, 6 ministers declared their educational qualifications to be between 8th pass and 12th pass. 2 ministers are diploma holders while 24 ministers have declared their educational qualifications to be graduate.

While informing about the age of ministers, the ADR report said, 18 (56%) ministers have declared their age to be between 41 and 60 years while 14 (44%) ministers have declared their age to be between 61 and 80 years.

The portfolios of the new Cabinet were allocated on Monday with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah keeping key ministries including Finance, Cabinet Affairs, and Intelligence in the newly-formed Karnataka government, while his deputy DK Shivakumar will oversee Major and Medium Irrigation and Bengaluru City Development.

HK Patil gets Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation, and Tourism. Dinesh Gundu Rao gets Health and Family Welfare, while Krishna Byregowda gets Revenue (Excluding Muzrai), according to the news agency ANI.
