An analysis of their self-sworn affidavits by the Odisha Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals that 149 (38%) of the 394 candidates running in the 4th phase of the Odisha Assembly Elections 2024 from 42 constituencies have declared that their educational background is between 5th and 12th standard.

In a similar vein, 220 (or 56% of the candidates) stated they have completed graduate-level coursework or higher. In addition, three candidates have said that they are only literate, while 22 candidates hold diplomas. The ADR analysis shows that 240 (61%) applicants stated their age to be between 41 and 60 years old, whereas 101 (26%) candidates said their age to be between 25 and 40 years old.

52 individuals, or 13%, have indicated that they are between the ages of 61 and 80. One contestant stated that he is eighty-one years old. 61 female candidates, or 15% of the total, are running in the Odisha Assembly Election 2024’s fourth phase.
