Bihar elections 2025: Ran Kaushal Pratap Singh, popularly known as Guddu Singh, has emerged as one of the richest candidates in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Contesting from the Lauriya constituency in West Champaran, Singh represents the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and has total assets worth an astounding Rs 368 crore.
According to his affidavit filed with the Election Commission, Singh, a businessman by profession, has assets worth Rs 3689857184 and liabilities of Rs 15.58 crore. His wealth portfolio includes agricultural land valued at Rs 2.58 crore, non-agricultural land worth Rs 352 crore and shares and securities amounting to Rs 5.51 crore.
Family assets and lifestyle
Singh’s wife, Saloni Singh, who is also engaged in business, has declared assets worth Rs 131 crore and investments worth Rs 6.59 crore. The couple owns seven luxury vehicles and several foreign-made firearms. Their family’s jewellery collection includes about 3.4 kilograms of gold owned by his wife and daughters, while Singh personally holds around 600 grams of gold and diamond jewellery.

He hails from Chanpatia in Paschim Champaran district and belongs to a business family. Singh first entered politics in 2015, contesting from Lauriya on an RJD ticket when his declared wealth stood at Rs 8 crore. He later contested on a BSP ticket, declaring Rs 13 crore in assets. Over 17 years, his wealth has skyrocketed nearly 47 times to reach Rs 373 crore in 2025.
According to his affidavit, Singh has loans amounting to Rs 14.46 crore, while his wife owes Rs 1.12 crore. His swift financial rise and lavish lifestyle have made him one of the most talked-about figures in Bihar’s political landscape.
Wealthy contenders in the Bihar poll battle
Another wealthy face from West Champaran is RJD’s Dipak Yadav, contesting from Narkatiaganj. He has declared assets worth Rs 80 crore, ranking among the richest candidates in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections.
Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Phase 1 voting begins
The Bihar Assembly Election 2025 is one of the biggest political events of the year. Phase 1 polling has taken place today, on November 6, across 121 assembly constituencies. Voting will began at 7 AM and continue till 6 PM. The second phase, covering 122 seats, is scheduled for November 11, while counting of votes will take place on November 14. Bihar has a total of 243 assembly constituencies.
As the state prepares for this major democratic exercise, a total of 1,314 candidates are in the fray in the first phase, including several prominent leaders whose political fate will be sealed tomorrow. Among these 1314 candidates, around 1,080, nearly 42 per cent, are crorepatis, underscoring the growing influence of money power in state politics.

According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), out of the 2616 candidates contesting in Bihar elections, 431 belong to national parties, 351 are from state parties, 908 are from registered unrecognised parties and 926 are independent candidates. The declared net worth figures are based on self-sworn affidavits of 2,600 candidates from the total 2,616 in the fray.

His candidature from Lauriya has placed West Champaran in the spotlight, as voters prepare to choose between power, wealth and representation.
